Well to each their own i say! But sometimes it depends on the complexion of the girl and how her facial structure is! She might be able to pull it off! I know some black girls that naturally have blond hair! I have blacks in my family with blue eyes! So you really can't say you hate it when Black girls dye their hair blond! It makes a difference wither you say Beyonce has blond hair and she looks fine with it! Then again if you said Gabriel Union has blond hair I would say we have a problem! Also it depends on what type of blond they have! I bleached some streaks in my hair and it looks great because it brings out the color of my eyes! Which are light brown! But i took it down to a dark blond then i think i might do it red this time! Just don't be so general when you say Black women. We have many different types of skin and complexions. we range from Dark to very light! We are the most diverse people as far as any other "race".

Answer to question #1: I feel that for some, it's to try to be someone else than they already are/to "fit" in, and for others, just to see how it is. After all, it seems to be in a woman's nature to always want to have what the other one has!
Answer to question #2: Some may not appreciate their race and/or how it has "made her to be", and therefore change the hair into a more "Caucasian" one or so. (This links to what I mentioned earlier)
Answer to question #3: *Read the above*
Answer to question #4: Personally, I find that for some-- maybe most-- it looks rather tacky. A bit ridiculous. Though a few have made it with a good hair dye and the exact right shade of blond for them... so, it's all a bit mixed, not one or the other type of thing.

Blonde on lighter skinned woman is ok, Some medium complexioned woman can wear dark shades of blonde but it is a definite no no on dark skinned African American woman. It does not look good at all, and before anyone comments I am an African American woman.

I have to agree with the other posters. Blonde looks alot better with lighter skin tones (Beyonce). I think reds and browns work for darker skin tones (Kelly Rowland).
I would never read anything serious (self-hate?!) in a blonde dye-job, it's just fashion darling. Sorry, that part of your question really was a bit foolish.

I don't think that they're trying to deny their race. I'm a spanish/lebanese mix with naturally dark hair who decided to dye my hair blonde once. I wasn't trying to look more white; I just wanted to see what it looked like. (It was horrible, by the way.) I think it looks ok on lighter brown skin when done in the right shade, i.e. definitely not bleach blonde.

some black women actually look really nice in blond!! especially the lighter ones.
In any way, it doesn't make then uglier unless it's a yellow blond, the kind that makes your hair look like a chick got stuck on your head... and it's not about hating their race. It's about character, and how they feel about themelves. just like you would ask about white women who dye their hair black.

No, I don't think at all that black women trying to be blondes means that they hate their race or anything or are trying to fit in. I think it actually looks really good with the skin tone.

Well i am a black women. My mother is half black, half black,my father is black.I have a deep golden brown skin tone. I have my hair colored with ash blonde highlights and it looks fantastic.I am not trying to fit in.What kind of an ignorant question is that? Why do white people with blonde hair color it brown,or why do white girls with brown hair color it black.People color their hair because its fun, like wearing different clothes,it makes you feel good. I don't color my hair for any other reason then it looks great on me,i have hazel eyes and the highlights bring them out. Stop hatin on people.

I don't think they hate their race or who they are. I think they just look at it as just another hair color, something else for them to try ( something new). I don't think it makes them look ugly but I think it doesn't look right on real dark skinned black women.
