the side effects from the pill are different with every person and every pill. a perfect pill should have no side effects other than shorter periods and less cramps. it works well, i know many women on the pill and we are all very happy with it. by injection I'm guessing you mean the depo shot?...i would stay far far far away from depo...i have known way to many young girls gain 20+lbs on depo, have lots of irregular bleeding (one girl i knew bled for 3 weeks with out stopping). the bleeding on depo can range from very light and non at all to heavy with clots. it is also known to cause depression and mood swings. you can end up with some of the same problems with the pill, but your not stuck for 3 months or more. i say try the pill with in 2 weeks you'll know if its going to be a problem. if you have unpleasant side effects call your doctor back right away and go off it and try another one. takes some people 2 or 3 different pills to find the right one for them. good luck.

I went on it, and hated it! Gained loads of weight, which I've really struggled to shift, had severe headaches, spots which really can only be described as BOILS on my face and neck, and mood swings so severe my mum threatened to toss me out the house if I didn't come off it! Hurrah! Oh, and I had like a 3 month period. But I have friends that have gone on it and had no problems. The only thing I would also point out, is that if you are on it for a long time, it can take an awful long time for your periods to come back when you finish it. (My friend was on it for 3 years, has been off it for 2 years and still hasn't had a period...scary!) I would suggest that if you're really interested in checking it out, maybe talk to your nurse or doctor. There are also other contraceptives, I am on the Patch, which is a patch you wear for a week, change it for 3 weeks, then take it off and have a period. I haven't had any side effects, its really great, because you don't have to remember to take a pill everyday. You could always try the injection for 3 months (1 injection lasts 3 months) and see how you go? Hope this helps!

I would really not recommend the injection. I know about 5 people who have tried it and they all had bad experiences. All of them gained weight, they didn't have any periods while on it, or for months after they stopped them (sounds great, but come on, that's a bit dodgy isn't it). It's new, so the long-term consequences are still being found out but anything that messes with you ferility like that doesn't sound good.

The pill is much better. It's been around for years and it does not take long to get back to normal when you come off it. You're taking a steady dose, not 3 months worth at one time. It just makes more sense.

I've heard a lot of girls gain weight when they get the shot...it causes your appetite to increase. But, not everyone. I'm wary of it because once you've had the shot, you're stuck with the side effects for three months, no going back. Have you tried the pill?
Oh and remember the condom is your only protection against Sexually Transmitted Diseases!! No other form of birth control will offer protection from STD's.

i was on the injections for about 4 years and they're quite good really. I was warned they would make me put on weight but i can't say they did. i was also told they would make my periods erratic, or non-existant. i found i was having a period lasting about 2 weeks every three months but i suppose that depends on you. apart from that, no other side-effects
