This is something i found on the web what are your thoughts?!?
"Today, Christmas is a very popular holiday. However, as is often the case, what is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular. Christmas means 'mass for Christ'. The name of the holiday is much newer than the holiday itself. The customs associated with Christmas, in one form or another, have been celebrated for literally thousands of years. 'Christmas' is just a new name for an old holiday.
There is no doubt that the customs that are associated with Christmas, as well as the idea of a deity being born on December 25th are of pagan origin. One need only look to an encyclopedia or even many local newspapers in the 12th month of the year to find this truth. The real issue is whether or not we should walk in these customs. So what is so bad about it? Is it just for the children? What should we be teaching our children? Truth or lies?"

It seems to me that largely what is celebrated is a sort of Festifus (as Seinfeld joked) and is much less about christ than it is about the last hurrah before we are all homebound and a great warm way to while away chilly nights. It's a shame that it gets lumped into the same word as christmas - it does take the religiously solemn portion of the holiday away - but that has a lot ot do with the fact that it is the only universal day off, the big yearly event for all. I think over years religious names have been put onto this day to give the appearance that the newly conquered were celebrating with their new bosses rather than in spite of them.
True, the christians could play up Epiphany as the truly solemn holiday - but they too are having a hard time getting that made a legal holiday and few employers are going to go along with that. In the meantime, each day has it's own personal meaning to each individual and christmas time is a time of warm feelings toward our fellow man - certainly that should be encouraged if nothing else.
Peace!

At least 90 percent of are children are taught Lies.
They are taught to believe in Fairy Tales and miracles. Problem is that when they grow up the lies stay with them. Christmas has become a Merechant's Holiday. Like all the rest of our Holidays.
It doesn't do any real harm and it gives the Children something to look forward to. Yes I believe it is a Holiday for the kids. Grownups should know better.

I think winter is a miserable time of the year. I am happy to celebrate something at this time of the year with my family and friends. I love Christmas and I don't particularly care about its origins. If you're really pedantic, then you will not wish to celebrate it as such. I know, because I belonged to a church which didn't, for this reason.
However,I left that church. I love christmas, I love going to church, I love the Nativities and I think it is great. I love little children dressed up as shepherds and Mary and Joseph and the Wise Men.
I have never taught my children about Santa Claus. That isn't important to me. But I am glad about the birth of Jesus Christ and if it takes this time to make me concentrate on it, so be it.
You make Christmas what it is. For me it is a season of Joy and Happiness and Celebration with your Family.

Christmas is celebrating Jesus's birth and that's important because if he wasn't born he wouldn't have died to save us from sin. I think it's an important holiday. As far as it being the same time as a pagan holiday, I don't think that really matters as long as you don't celebrate the pagan holiday.

teach your child the true meaning of Christmas which :
God's son was born in a stable, he was given 3 gifts by 3 wise men, gold frankincense and mire, that his birth was the start of new age of beliefs and teachings.
so the given of gifts is to symbolise this day, has been done since the ist Christians celebrate the birth of our lord Jesus Christ,
its present day society that has turned a religious festival into a commercialised event where how much you spend on a child is more important as to why we celebrate Christmas, its getting worse with each generation of kids,

Well when I asked why do we lie to our kids each year about Christmas, I got sarcastic answers. I guess it's safe to celebrate whatever you believe or don't believe. Christmas isn't just for children but they get more of a surprise out of it.
Nowadays it's more commercial and spending loads of money when you don't want to!!
