Have got it sorted, took it to the local tip, they were very helpful and it didn't cost anything extra.

I think it depends on your local council. Some charge to collect anything (other than your regular refuse etc), some don't. I took a fridge a couple of years ago to my local tip and I had to tell them my name and address to prove I lived in the borough but that was all.

Check your local authority website (not the county council).

Your council will pick it up and dispose of it properly. Down here (Brighton) it's about £15.
