if you plug the old drive in, make sute it is set as SLAVE or it will mess up with your PC and the new pc won't come on either.

Take the hard drive out of the old computer, plug it into the motherboard of your new one (or install it into a USB enclosure) and pull the photos off of it. Once you've done that you could just leave it installed or just use it for extra storage by formatting it.

Remove the hard drive from the old computer and rejumper the master/slave jumper to slave. Install it in the new computer using the same cable as the existing hard drive and copy the files as needed.
