I know a old lady who every occasion you try to help her, she gets angry. All her sons and even her husband ran away.
When I approach to her to help her, she says that she's helping me.
She likes to listen a corny radio program about meditation and she sleeps a lot.
She likes also to collect old newspapers, wishing to travel soon.
Any time that someone tries to give her a suggestion or professional help, she counter attacks very aggresively.
She doesn't have friends, I will say these few are fans, who doesn't know her really.
She's passing through a divorce process after 40 years of marriage.
Why do you suggest? If it's better leave her alone?

Sometimes older people suffer from a condition called senile dementia. It's quite common. It's difficult to say what exactly is going on. It might be a combination of things that are happening to her to make her act this way.

Older people are very set in their ways and usually don't like change. Don't leave her alone. Keep visiting her if she seems to enjoy it. If she starts letting her personal appearance go (not taking baths or letting garbage pile up in her house) you might need to contact human services.

You should still try to help. Cause its the right thing to do. But if she gets out of control or all hopes fail the just leave her alone.
