National Parks in India

The first National Park in India was set up in 1935 in the foot hills of Himalayas in Uttar Pradesh and was known as Hailey National Park. It is now known as (after the famed wildlife lover) Corbett National Park. In 1970, there were only five National Parks, namely Kanha, Bandavgarh, Shivpuri, Taroba and Corbett. Now there are about 87 National Parks in India.
