In the sixties and seventies, women protested strip clubs, Playboy enterprises, and other pornographic institutions. The idea of prostitution is hotly debated.

Is a woman's ability to take control of her sexual life and to sleep with whomever she chooses empowring and feminist, and a product of the Roe v Wade right to privacy rueling, or is it degrading to women everywhere, turning them into male sex symbols?

Should a femenist woman strive towards "promiscuity," using her sexual rights as she choses, or should she be concious of mysoginist worldviews and keep her sexuality in check, focusing instead on her career or education? Is sexuality something to be repressed, should we strive towards gender neutrality or should we amp up our sexualities and take pride in femeninity?

The first joker to say women belong in the kitchen will wind up with a karmic boot in the butt, when a meal cooked by a woman gives him Montezuma's Revenge. Like whoah.

I don't think so. Living life on your own terms and being sexually unihibited are traits many feminists embrace, but being promiscuous incinuates a lack of respect for one's self. Be selective, and live in a way that suits you. Sleeping around hardly unshackles a gender.

Actually it really is a feminist ideal because it incorrectly assumes that men and women are the same. Fact is that since a woman needs to open herself up to allow a man inside her. Sex is much riskier for a woman. And more emotional. The first time a girl has sex it's very meaningful. It's less meaningful for a man because he is not being invaded. He has less to worry about. She hears so often that it hurts. Then there's STDs. Women get illnesses due to sex more than men. Just a fact becuse of the hormones and the environment in the genitalia. And then there's pregnancy! Even with condoms and other birth controls (including sterilization!) at least 1 out of 1000 sexual acts results in a pregnancy. Think about THAT! EVEN with sterilization.

So PLEASE explain to me how sex is the same for women as it is for men!

Fact is that premarital sex is just plain WRONG! This one act has caused more damage to the world than drugs and gangs. In fact it was largely responsible for drugs and gangs. Unsupervised children raised by single mothers who at BEST idolized their children. When a single mother has to raise a child she must look to the child for emotional support. "It's tough but when I look at that sweet face it is all worth it." That is idolizing the child and it's unhealthy. A child needs a father and a mother.

There are of course exceptions to every rule. I speak only of statistics. Statistically speaking the more people that have casual sex, the more single mothers there will be. And the numbers have become so high that unsupervised children being raised by women with little or no support are the result.

Forget about gender neutrality and recognize the fact that men and women ARE different. Totally equal but still different. Accept your strengths and weaknesses and take responsibility. The whole of humanity is at stake.

Sorry if I sound mysoginistic. I'm sooooo not. I really respect women. But I do celebrate our differences.

Something yall seem to be missing here is that guys who sleep around are more often than not privately considered bad choices. If a guy sleeps around, do you think that he will ever actually get a serious relationship built on love and trust? Prostitution is a job, but it takes a certain kind of woman to be a prostitute. I think that you should do what is comfortable for you. I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping around, but if you are comfortable and truly happy, then good luck to you. If you read Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy, then you would get a nice picture of reversed gender roles.

No. A feminist believes that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities.
Promiscuity is a sexual dysfunction.

you can absolutely make an argument for that, but i don't think it is. just because you can swing around 5 men at a time doesn't make you "feminist." it's not right for men either, cuz it's just totally demeaning to women. there are other people's feelings involved, and you'll only end up regretting it. we always do, no matter what.

No. Promiscuity is gender neutral, although women are more quickly accused of promiscuity because of traditional male value judgments.
As a global issue, women are the exploited backbone of chauvinist societies and require assistance & encourgement in obyaining the broad and full range of human rights.

Absolutely! Men get to sleep around without being called bad names. Women should too. There is nothing wrong with having sex. It's a good thing and it's very healthy.

Feminists do know nothing about real life = SEX.
They are very poor. They have no experiences, no life on their own... I do not want to help them...

Promiscuity is a feminist ideal. This is why I do not support the feminist movement most of the time.
