Ok question...How does the News Hour and Public Radion different from Commercial Media???

I'm trying to do a project in class and I need assistance in this area. I'm just confused on what commercial media is and what not. Why is public broadcasting so important???

Because they are not commercial broadcasts, they do not have to worry about ratings. Therefore they can devote more time to news that may be not be popular but may actually be more newsworthy. Also, without direct commercial sponsorship, these broadcasts do not need to worry about offending sponsors, so their reporting is likely to be more balanced while commercial broadcasts may have a corporate bias.
