The best way to gain concentration is to practice it. When starting a task finish it, no matter what. Slow down, and do not try to accomplish 3, 4 ot more things at the same time. Reduce your TV time: commercial television has been linked to ADD in infants. Stick to a healthy diet: low in fats and sugars. And most important start a meditation program and be patient.

An old time doctors remedy is to give the child a Mountain Dew at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The combo of Caffine (a stimulant) and sugar calms a truly ADHD or ADD child right down with no Ritalin (also a stimulant)

Herbs, Etc. out of Santa Fe, NM, makes a product for children called "Kidalin." It helps. Main ingredient is Catnip.
I have an adult friend who takes a supplement by NOW Foods called "Relora." She is a college student - very bright but has trouble staying focused. She says her grades have improved and her teachers have actually recommended other students get some of her "brain pills."

Ritalin and Concerta are meds prescribed for those with ADD... they are stimulants.
I have heard of giving someone coffee or a cola to get them stimulated. Might work in milder cases

i have a friend who's ADD and he takes aderall (spelling?) anyways. if there are days where he might need help in concentraion but not THAT much he drinks a red bull. Since they're all stimulants things that would make me hyper like coffee or Cola might actually help someone with ADD.

Whether you go on medication or not, you should get yourself one of those big white magnetic boards for your room where you can write yourself notes on it erasable ink and use the magnets to post important papers as reminders. Make lists and lots of lists.

my old roommates mother worked at a hippie school and they used papaya extracts -- don't know where to verify this -- i think getting more interesting teachers is the answer personally.
