A judge has to issue a court order allowing you to leave the USA for Canada or Mexico.
Your probation officer can give you permission to travel anywhere inside the 48 US States. I think Alaska and Hawaii are included even though both require air travel.

It depends on the nature of your charge.
If your probation doesn't restrict you it is only a question if the border officials will let you in..which they may or may not, depending on the severity of your conviction.

you have to have permission to go ANYWHERE outside your town from your probation officer reguardless of where it is. if you have not obtained permission prior to going somewhere, it is a violation of your probation.

You should ask your P & P officer or their office. Where I live (MO) you cannot go out of state w/out written permission from your P & P Office.
