We put our trailer 6 ft. up as FEMA instructed because of flood land. We have lived here 16 months, our first flood was over 4 ft. last week, and neighbors say, that is a small flood. We need to find a grant to put the 1969 trailer on stilts and put a roof over the top. Our trailer is a single wide 2 bedroom. The floor is pressed wood and if the water reaches that, the floors will fall out. Our income at the moment is $1056.00 a month. We bought this land because it was all we could afford.

The Government has created a portal to help individuals who need benefits because of life events.

Visit http://www.govbenefits.gov

This site lists all the government assistance and welfare programs that you may be able to avail.

Use the drop down button
DO YOU NEED BENEFITS BECAUSE OF A LIFE EVENT?
Choose the life situation best applicable to you and then see if you qualify for the available government assistance.

Forget grant money - there's hardly any money for individuals. Go to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) http://www.cfda.gov and Grants.gov http://www.grants.gov - these are two sites created by the federal government to provide transparency and information on grants. But you'd be hard pressed to find any grant that would support individuals.

WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

do not fall for scams like chris's. he's a new scammer/con artist/identity thief on the internet started operating since september 06, collecting member's personal details on yahoo answers, anyone reading this you must not fall for what he is offering, all he wants is your personal details, which he will probably sell to fraudsters or make a fraudulent crime himself to get a loan or something.

he is a criminal, i made an article about people like chris please read here

Contact your local social services agencies - they might be able to direct you to someplace that can/will help.

Good luck.
