I recently started the birth conrol Seasonal on Oct. 16th. When I started it, I had been on my period for about 4 days already. The Dr. said I could start the pills that day, which I did, and now I have been bleeding for 3 weeks. I have one more week of active pills, then I'm on to my inactives, my question is, do I skip the inactives, or take them, to end my period?

I'm 20, and my periods were "normal" in a sense that I would get it for 3 weeks, then I wouldn't get it for 3 months....

Take the inactive pills, too. But, you really need to contact your doctor. Find out if the 3 week period is normal for Seasonal. There may be an underlying problem, or you may need to switch pills. A 3 week period is NEVER normal.

Hi ns, When I started taking the pill I had my period for more then 2 months. The pill might not be agreeing with your body and you might need to change it,or you will eventually adjust to it. Give your gp a buzz, only your doctor can really answer this question.

Definitely contact the doctor that prescribed this. Also, if you don't get a satisfactory response, consider switching doctors.

Years ago I had a "bleeding" situation. My doctor told me my hormones were unbalanced because I was overweight, and not to worry about it. I continued to bleed for quite a while, and never sought help because, to be honest, I already knew I was fat! I almost died, and was left unable to conceive. (I was young and naive-only 21- and believed what doctors told me)

This is a serious condition. Please take care of it immediately.

Bleeding for this long is serious. It could be a sign of a bloodclot or something more serious call your doctor.
