that's a very very nice question, i thought I'd find alot of smart answers but i was shocked not to find any...
well, "i think" that the sociology is one of the greatest factors on the designer """any kind of design for the guy who answered somewhere above me"""....for example these guys who keep painting the walls, you see their art...it's awesome, but it represents what they think, you'll know straight away from the first look that this person is having a hard life, he is a fool, he is a smart decent person, he's evil, he's a wanna be...(as in any painting by any human), so maybe people in Iraq have all these paintings about victory, guns, flags, which reflects exactly what the artist is living in, in his society, then these in kuala lumpur, where you see these punk drawings and stuff, so i strongly believe that sociology, do effect the design..

I minored in sociology, but I have no idea what your question means. Neither do I think anyone else will. What kind of design? Clothing design? Architectural design? Automotive design? Webpage design? What do you want to know? Be more specific.
