I don' t just feel, I know they should be banned from public use.
I have seen the horrific burns they cause.

In the last week I've seen the results of kids letting off a firework into a crowd of people waiting at a bus stop. Not nice. I've also been to a display held in someones garden where rockets aimed upwards bounced off trees and flew past our heads. These are isolated incidents but they have changed my mind about fireworks.
Fireworks night has become fireworks month and pets suffer, children are kept awake and there are significant safety issues. One person with severe burns from fireworks is too many. In my humble opinion there is no valid reason for them being on public sale. Why not just have the public displays? They are normally managed properly, there is no doubt about safety and the fireworks are better!

Yes, they are a menace.
They terrify my dogs when idiots start setting them off in mid October, and don't stop again well into January.
All over the country, A&E departments are sick of treating drunken idiots for fireworks burns, or worse still, missing fingers because they decided to hold the firework in their hand until it went off.
They should be banned from public use, and restricted to officially organised licensed displays.
They are after all a pyrotechnic explosive device, which ordinarily would require a licenced handler.

I think that they should only be sold for organised public displays. There should be licencing laws over who can sell and use fireworks and an also laws that determine exactly the curfew times are IE, no displays that go on later than 10pm.
This would stop the have-a-go idiots from setting them of wherever and whenever they choose. It would also mean an end to the thousands of injuries caused to children every year because of irresponsible use.

Yes they should. I have just moved back to England from Ireland with my Irish girlfriend. She was really intimidated by the constant fireworks. We were out last night with 2 friends when one went off in a public phone box.
They should be banned completely. Anyone wishing to purchase them for an event should be required to obtain a license and be strictly vetted.
See the 2000 report for more:
http://www.cgsystems.co.uk/ncfs/report00.htm
That way the hundreds of injuries to people and animals this time of year would be prevented.

Yes, I live in Georgia, where we have recently been given the right to bear fireworks. I can only imagine what the local emergenacy looks like, I am sure there are dozens of hillbillies with missing fingers and burns filling the room and the best part is...they never learn, they will beback out there the next night trying again.

I think fireworks should be banned with the exception of licenced contractors, who can do displays for public events - 5 Nov, New Year etc. Today's fireworks can be so powerful and be downright dangerous in untrained hands.

Allowing the general public to purchase fireworks i.e. explosives, is downright irresponsible.
They inevitably fall in to the hands of moronic youths who throw them in the street.
Either fireworks should be banned, or moronic youths should be. Along with their moronic parents.
