It is not correct to get your lucky stone based just on your Sun sign.

Vedic Astrology actually places more importance on the lucky stone for your Ascendant, not the Sun sign. It also looks at your weak planets and advises you to wear the gemstones for those planets, so as to strengthen those areas of your life which are ruled by those weak planets. There are also certain precautions to observe in selecting the correct lucky stones to wear, according to each individual chart.

Weak planets mean that the areas they rule will also be weak and not benefic for you. E.g. if your Aries Sun rules your 10th house of career and if it is weak, you will have some difficulty in having a successful career.

You need to also give the Time and Place Of Birth in order to know which sign is your Ascendant, which planets are malefic or benefic, and which are weak or strong. Planets which rule 'bad' houses should not be strengthened by using its traditional gemstone, as the energies of the stone will increase the bad effects of that planet.

BTW, Ruby is not the gemstone for Aries but for Leo, because it is the gemstone for the Sun which rules Leo.
