Generally, for careers that tend to be heavily unionized, the best training outlets are through your local union (links provided below). The union provides both the training opportunities and the job opportunities once you're finished.

If you're looking for carpentry training that is not unionized, I would contact your local community college and see if they can put you in contact with whoever provides such training - if there is anyone.
