I think they do because as you get older you get more compatible and understanding. You also have learnt a lot from your 1st marriage and think more seriously before entering your 2nd.

I heard that 50% of first marriages fail, 60% of second marriages fail and 70% of third marriages fail.

My first lasted 4 years, my second about 12 years. I hope that the one i'm in now will last forever!

I quite possibly do believe that a second marriage can outlast the first because you know what you're looking for the second time around. I mean you feel like you might the first time, but really, what went wrong? Second marriages can outlast the first and this is why...if you picked the right person; they can easily fail if you pick the wrong one again. It's confusing at times...look deeper next time around...

It depends on the people, and the reason for the break-up of the first marriage.

My second marriage actually didn't last as long as my first, but they were both just around 4 years. the second one I had a child, the first I didn't.

I'm planning on getting married next year, and I expect that one to last far far longer, as this will be the first time that I am actually marrying for the right reason!

I think they are likely to last longer as long as the second marriage is not to the same person as the first marriage...I made that mistake!!!!!

Every statistic says that the odds are stacked against those in 2nd marriages, and where almost half 1st marriages end in divorce, about 65% of 2nd marriages do.

I think this is because people think it is their circumstances not of their own making (in many cases) that caused their 1st marriage to fail, and people don't look at what they need to do to make their 2nd marriage more successful, rather than just dive right in with spouse #2.

No - second marriages - statistically - fail at a higher rate than first marriages. It gets progressively worst with each successive marriage too. Your best chance to be married is your first one so choose wisely.

Depends on what you may have learned about marriage in the first and lessons learned regarding it's demise. Whether you applied these lessons to your second commitment contract.
Statistically, the second is no more likely to work than the first.Sorry.

U cannot predict the future, but ya know more than the 1st time! My 2nd 1 lasted at least 4 years more than my 1st, but I married the same type of guy! Now I did some soul searching and I am with the almost perfect 1 this time.

Apparently more second marriages fail than first ones do - probably due to all the baggage left from the first marriage.
