Please give some info on EDI (Electronic Data Integration) ? Is it related to ERP ? what are the areas it find application ? What are current market trend in EDI .... means job prospect ?

EDI is a series of fixed length document exchange standards used by large companies to exchange ERP type documents: Purchase orders, invoices, inventory etc.. The government has been a large adopter of EDI, and many large retailers, most notably walmart, use it.

As for market trend, I think you can break this down to internet businesses vs. brick and mortar. New businesses are using xml based technologies like SOAP rather than EDI. EDI is firmly entrenched in places like Walmart, so EDI is probably not going away anytime soon.

Electronic Data Integration is the only way to do trading with some of the larger retailers. It basicly is the way two companies can send data back and forth.
