I'm biracial and Im so sick of feeling like ''I dont exist'' what I mean by that is, people do sometimes see us as mixed, biracial, etc .... but when it comes to feeling out papers that ask for your ethnicity, ''biracial'' is not an option...Maybe if it was, biracial girls would be who they really are instead of being pressured by society to ''act as one race'' and/or label themselves as one of those races when we/they are actually both, Caucasian AND African American. 50/50.....that ''well if you have black in you, you're full black'' theory is bull s*h*i*t. Not that anything is wrong with being African American...but that theory is over rated and more importantly, false. I really feel like there is enough of us now and that we have been around for far too long now to not be recognized fully as our OWN race. We deserve the same amount of recognition as an independent race just as well as Hispanic, Caucasian, African American, Chinese (etc) people do!

I am biracial, and being biracial does exist in other races as well. I am hispanic/white. You do not worry about the small stuff, reach high and accomplish your goals. Prove that you are important. Go to school and get the best education that you can. Be a meaningful part of society so that you can make a difference and make your mark on society. Be a Christian and live a good life to set an example for others so that others with look up to you. We can get caught up in the hate and predjudice of others. Protect yourself from this as it will pull you down. Blessing to you my sister.

I'm not bi-racial, but I read your comments and agree that you deserve the same recognition as the other races recognized on paper have. A solution: Put "bi-racial" in the "other" space; if there is no space like that, write "bi-racial" in the appropriate section. You have no further obligation, unless asked by a potential employer, to disclose anything else.

I know what it feels like. I am a child of parents from extremely different cultures (not races) but then I am also lost about our identity. I am sure children of parent belonging to two different countries, religions, regions etc. feel the same too. There are lots of mixed generation coming up now and it is unfair to force them to classify themselves as just one part of their heritage and ignore the other. I hope we all get recognition too.

All of these divisions (Hispanic, Black, Chinese) are exacerbated by people who want to divide and conquer.

When it comes to checking off race, just check whatever race you want who cares? Unless the race is for a scholarship or something, then check whichever one will be most beneficial.

Well, I'm not biracial, but I see where you're coming from.

To me, it just manifests how stupid racism can be.

All of us are of the human race.

We came from Adam and Eve.

So why do we have to be divided into groups?

Why are we stereotyped?

Something just don't add up.
