Have spent many Christmas's in Cairo and I love it. They obviously do not celebrate Xmas, it is just another working day which is great if you are trying to avoid all the usual celebrations but they certainly know how to celebrate New Year - it goes on for about 3 days. It is also a lovely temperature, there will be days when you can sit by a pool or at least sit outside in the sun with a long drink and it is also not too hot so walking is very pleasant. The larger hotels do all have Xmas Trees up and I suppose that is for tourists who are home sick!

Cairo could be the capital of Egypt and among the largest cities in Africa and the Middle East and a great place to see; learn more with hotelbye . On the Nile water, Cairo is fabled for its own history, maintained in the fabulous old Islamic city and Coptic web sites in Old Cairo. The Egyptian Museum in the centre of town is a must see, with its numerous Old Egyptian artefacts since no trip to Cairo could be complete with no trip to the Giza Pyramids, and to the nearby Saqqara Pyramid Complex. In Cairo you can see: The Pyramid of Cheops (also called the Great Pyramid or Pyramid of Khufu), the largest pyramid of the Giza class, and its inside of thin articles may be investigated, although there is not significantly to see, except an ordinary tomb step by having an clear sarcophagus. Immediately behind the Great Pyramid could be the Solar Boat Museum, which features one of the ceremonial solar barques unearthed in your community that has been carefully restored to its unique glory. More south on the plateau could be the Pyramid of Chephren (also referred to as the Pyramid of Khefre), that has an inside tube place that can be entered.

Egypt is an Islamic country, the percentage of christians is not high, so we are not the best people to celebrate christmas, although here in Egypt both Muslims and christians celebrate that day, but its not the best place for that.
if ur outside Egypt and u're planning to come to cairo specially for that occasion, then i wouldnt advice u to do that.
the millenium event took place at the great pyramids, it was awsome, voted as one of the best millenium parties in the world, if u can find something like that, i mean a huge christmas celebration at a place like the great pyramids, then sure its worth coming to Cairo for that, i wouldnt miss it either, but i really still didnt hear about what will happen at christmas.
merry christmas in advance:)

Cairo is OK----------------all the sights to see. Alexandria is cleaner and really nicer. But, if you want to go THIS Xmas, you may be too late to get a flight there. Where are you coming from?

Next to the Pyramids they set up various tents, offer good dinner and entertainment and may hand you the Egyptian Gelabaya to set on ground with comfort. It may be your one night Arabian fun.
