What you're doing on your PC sounds good. The best firewall you can have to start with, is being behind NAT (Network Address Translation).

This is a configuration that is provided by your router/firewall, which also allows you to share the internet connection. NAT knocks down all the network port based exploits right off the bat, which is something everyone should be using these days.

nod32 is a excellent antivirus program
there are a few that might detect a little more
bitdefender
f-secure
kaspersky
as for windows firewall..yes it does block incoming threats like all others...(zone alarm..outpost..comodo)...BUT..it does not stop outbound...so that is where u could have problems...neways
u could also look at a few programs that would go good with what u have and would not conflict with anything....

All that is fine. But, the best security is your brain, use it.

Think twice when pointing that mouse.
