yeah should do try gteting a carper cleaner cheaper than new carpets, and wash all nets, curtains etc... and wash the walls with sugar soap and re paint should sort it, im a smoker but believe it or not i hate the smell and dont smoke indoors cos the smell is gross i reckon that will work though, and bicarb of soda is a good odour eater as well sprinkle that on the carpets before you wash them for a couple of days or something.

Get rid of the carpet - that's where most of the smell is coming from. Wash down the walls and ceiling. Repainting won't hurt, but washing will get rid of the smell.

Carpet and paint should get most of it. Be sure to change the filter in the furnace and/or a/c unit and clean the fan above the stove, bathroom fan...anything involved in air circulation. Throw away and blinds or drapes left behind and get new ones. If there are surfaces such as wood cabinets that you can't paint, just clean them really well and apply a lemon or orange scented polish/wax. That should take care of all the odors. Enjoy your new home!

I rent an apartment where the previous renter smoked and the renter next to me smokes too. I peel oranges then boil them without a lid and drop in cloves after it comes to a rolling boil. Candles don't help alot. Sometimes I burn incense, but that is a bit smokey too. I would think replacing the carpet would make a huge difference as well. Try aroma-therapy soy or beeswax candles if you decide to use canles as they are vitually smoke-free and have a stronger smell

We bought a house last May which had been rented out to four heavy smokers. All the carpets had to go, we re-painted everything and the rest was down to soap and water, fresh air and elbow grease on every surface from ceilings to floors. It does mainly cling to curtains, carpets, lampshades & upholstery, so when they're gone, the rest is straightforward cleaning and redecorating.

First, burn the house to the ground. Plow up the property and add salt to it. Then call in the witch doctor of your choice to exorcise the evil.
...Seriously, all you have to do is call Stanley Steemer for the carpets, and wash the walls. The, spritz a little Febreze around.
