The inspiration for 'Sober' was made clear after Amy Lee's former boyfriend, Seether frontman Shaun Morgan, checked himself into rehab for "unspecified problems" in late July 2006. Lee stated that she's not worried about listeners knowing what inspired the song: “ 'Call Me When You're Sober' says something that's impossible to hide from. I'm stuck with everyone knowing exactly what I'm talking about. And if there's consequences for that, which there are, then I have to face them. But it's true, and it really happened, and it meant so much to me and felt so good to just blurt it out that it was worth it. And I think it's a really great song and I'm really proud of it." Hope this helps

Call Me When You're Sober is a song written by Amy, who is the lead singer of Evanescense. The song was written about her ex-boyfriend, who is the lead singer of Seether, I believe. I heard this on the radio the other day, I was wondering the same thing before I heard that.

"...you didn't drink enough to say you love me..."
Evanescence ROCKS! Phil is right... Something to do with only calling when you're influenced by something else... Amy's a great writer. Now that she's been experience the whole higher and glamorous Rock Lifestyle she's even better!!! With success comes a whole bigger and different world of issues (i.e.- Dating those living or wanting to live the same lifestyle)... I'd treat you right, Amy...;) The guy's a loser!!!

Yep, she use to date the lead singer of Seather "sean". They were really in love but he had a really bad drinking problem. She could not handle it anymore and he would not stop drinking. so she broke things off with him. The song is about all that and she is saying that she still loves him so when he is sober to "call her", basiclly she still loves him and wants him back after he gets help and stops drinking.

I remember hearing on a Radio Station when this song first came out. The lead singer's bf has a bad habbit of calling her after he's been drinking. So the song is about exactly what it means.

What she's saying in this song is that her boyfriend was never sober, obviously, and that he only wanted to be back with her because their relationship was over, kind of like you don't know what you got until it's gone, know what I mean? She's saying that he says he loves her, but he's never there with her. He doesn't know what he wants, but she does... She just wants him to figure it out... I think ..

Deception, Cheating, Lies, It's too late to fix it now..
If he loved her, he would be there with her
if he wants her, come find her
make up his mind

That's what I think it's about.

it means that her boyfriend only likes her when he is high or drunk, and he doesn't really care about her when he isn't. and if he really loved her he would be with her all the time, not only when he isn't sober
