Could be an hour, could be weeks. A teacher at my daughter's school is currently due with her 2nd. With her first she lost her plug and went into labor 4 days later...with this one, she lost her plug over a month ago...and still waiting. Never can tell!!

With my 2d being pregnant (boy) i lost my plug approximately 30-32 weeks, and became led to at 38 + wks. rather everyone seems to be distinctive. i understand some women persons who went into labor VERY quickly AFTER, yet i did no longer. On toddler #3 and no plug yet, and that i'm 34 wks!

Just like the answers above, it can be hours, days or weeks. I all depends on your body. with my first child I lost my plug three weeks before I went into labour. with my second child I never lost the plug until at the hospital.
Best of luck and congrats on your new addition to the family

How long's a piece of string? No seriously - the mucus plug regenerates so it can be hours or weeks.
The best bet is to keep looking for other signs. Fluid leaks, regular contractions, lower back pain, mood changes.
Do watch out for fever - it's a sign of infection. I don't know how far along you (or the person you are asking about) is - but best of luck!!!

i didnt lose my plug until i was already in labor with my first 2 pregnancies.i do however know women who lost it and had their babies the same day.then i know women who lost it and didnt have the baby for a couple more weeks. it all depends on when your baby wants to come.

it can take several days for true labor to hit, or only a few hours, it is different for everyone. With my 1ts it was over a week, then they induced. My son took a few days.
