Does it damage your phone to use accessories such as a handfree headset from a different model number of phone? or are the headsets (not bluetooth) pretty much universal??

Which cell phone model are you using? Some cell phones share the same headset while some others don't. I think it's better to find one that's compatible to yours. Or you can check out at cell phone accessory websites and see if it works on your phone. Guess you don't want to take that risk, right?! ;)

As long as the cord will plug into your phone easily without having to make it fit, then it will not do any damage.
