Gandhi's philosophy of non-violent resistance was used here in the US by Dr. Martin Luther King to advance the anti-segregation movement.
Gandhi's greatest accomplishment, the one that lead to all the other successful accomplishments listed below, was his conquering of his own selfish nature. Reading about his change from a spoiled young man to a radical pacifist and a great moral teacher is fascinating and humbling.

I"m not Indian but what you say doesn't make sense. Non-Sikh Indians ARE travelling overseas and experiencing success. When Indian communities abroad are enumerated - Sikhs make up a significant portion but not the majority. The Sikh community has done a lot in India - they did NOT do it alone. Non-Sikhs made a number of important contributions to Indian development.
