Im now 10 weeks pregnant. I have had a previous miscarriage a few years ago, and just wanted to get your opinions on the situation surrounding it, mainly to try to put my mind at rest a bit. I was travelling around Peru, up mountains at high altitudes, in the jungle trekking, 15 hr flights, anti-malaria drugs, lots of vacinations etc. I didn't know I was in the early stages of pregnancy when i was there, I found out when I got back and lost the baby a week later. Now im pregnant again Im trying to convince myself it was the situation I was in previously that made me lose the baby, and, as im doing everything right this time ie rest, vits, no alchol etc I should be fine. My friends say u cannot really find a cause of miscarriage, it just happens, but I feel better if I can attribute a cause, and im sure the travelling was the reason. What do u think?

I think the travelling and medication could have contributed to the miscarriage.Because anti-Malaria tablets are usually not to be taken by pg women unless prescribed by the doc. They are harmful to the baby.Dont worry it wont happen just take good care of yourself.....and no hiking and jungle trekking.

Miscarriages happen if there is something seriously wrong with the baby. I am sure you will be fine this time around. It sounds like you were doing alot of stuff with the travelling, and with the anti-malaria drugs, and the changes in altitudes etc. You can't feel guilty about your miscarriage, you didn't know you were pregnant. If you are doing everything right, you should have a healthy baby. Hope this helps =)

everyone gets scared of misscarriage and the worries don't stop trust me and when the baby is here more worries come its all part of becoming a mummy! and yes i do believe that some people can bring on miscarriage if they drink smoke and do drugs and some just happen spontaneously but you are doing all the right things so don't worry anyway its about 10 weeks the risk does start to decrease and after 12 weeks decreases considerably! just don't worry try to enjoy1 i was on holiday when i found out i was pregnant with this baby and was taking anti malaria tablets and i had a 9 hour flight i was so worried and i even started to bleed at 7 weeks like i did with the previous pregnancy but all turned out fine! just relax and enjoy! good luck xx

Although there may not always be a known reason for miscarriage, there can be many factors that lead to one. It does sound like your previous one could be caused by the things that you were experiencing. Medicines are especially bad for causing them, and the first trimester is when most of them are the most dangerous. Knowing that, I would look into the shots you have been ginven and read the safety info, it should have information listed about pregancy nad risks....Good Luck !

It sounds like there were a lot of stressors around early in your first pregnancy...if I were you I would probably attribute those to my miscarriage. I guess you never know though.

just remember just because you had one miscarriage doesnt mean you will this time. theres a 80% chance of carring this baby at full term and always that 20% of miscarring. always rememebr you didnt do anything to cause it
