I do not think Great Britain has been given a chance in this years Tri-Nations. This could go back to when New Zealand complained last year that there was not even accomodation organised for them in case they get into the final. From this, in my humble opinion, it seems New Zealand have been given every chance from the officials to get into the final. Unfortunately, as this was at the expense of GB in their first game, and GB now has to beat Australia at least once to get a chance for a look in at the final. They then have to beat NZ in the return match, who seem to be the team the officials want to win.

In the warm up game, GB seemed to have some combinations going, but lacked the finish to these moves. Perhaps the coach did not want to show his hand and allow everyone to see the completed moves. Basically, if GB can pull something out of the hat and beat Australia at least once, and then go and beat NZ, they have a chance of getting in the final. Then it will all come down to for and against to see who gets in the final.

[Update]
The tri nations tournament was first a Rugby Union tournament between South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Rugby League took the name for their tournament between Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. I hope this clears up some confusion of people.

[Update 2]
The New Zealanders are in danger of losing the 2 points they obtained from winning the game. NZ are threatening they will pull out of the competition if there are docked these 2 points. This saga is in regard to fielding a player who does not have a New Zealand grandparent to qualify him playing for NZ. A news story is here.
