This actually happened to me, but it seemed to work effectively, so I'll let you borrow it. I told them that 'someone' kept stealing my newspaper every morning before I had a chance to get it. It was totally frustrating and we'd go hunting for it in garden beds, under the cars. Nowhere to be found. So explain that while you'd 'like' to get the newspaper delivered, you can't, as there is a thief nearby!

Just tell them that youpick up the paper at the store somewhere - That's what I say (which is sometimes true).
