What are the benefits of updating my psp, 2.60?

Oh and by the way for some people who can't answer the question above.
How can i make my psp private like insert a password so when you get on it you have to put in a password to play.

Update 2.82 is the latest for the US version.

Password Setting
Go to Settings > Security Settings and set your password there. Make sure it is easy for you to remember or you will have to reset your system, which means you will lose certain data. Not sure what data.
