I dont' think there is a true social standard on this one anymore. We hosted our own baby party.. we just had a cookout with all our friends and family bringing something pot luck style. All the guys were there too. (there are more men than women in both our families). See what your daughter wants to do. If she wants the dad included, have a "party" instead of just a shower. My man just loved being there and opening the gifts.. then he and his brother attempted to put the "pack n play" together. It really was a blast!

Well, if you're looking for proper etiquette, then a friend or cousin, aunt, anyone but herself, her mother, sister or mother-in-law. If you don't really care about proper etiquette (and I don't mean that to be snotty, I just mean if you're not into the whole Peggy Post thing), then anyone who wants to. If you don't really want to throw the shower yourself and it seems no one else is offering, you could approach a friend about helping her throw it.
Congrats on your new grandchild!

I recently co-hosted my daughter's baby shower with one of her close friends. I paid for everything but she helped set it up and helped with the games and such. Either you or one of her friends could hold the shower for her.

Any female other than the one who is pregnant. Ask her friends who to invite. Men should not be present.

Anyone. My sister that is pregnant and I threw her one (I just asked her if I could). Then her husbands mother threw her one, and people in her church threw her one. I doesn't really matter who throw one, just as long as you ask if it would be okay the throw one. Good luck. I
