Okay, I KNOW this is about appearance, and some of this can be deemed as such (posture, hygeine ect.) but pardon me if I go a little off topic... appearance doesn't impress everybody, no matter how gorgeous you look.

The most glaring aspect a student will rate you for is how well you know your subject. Students like a top-whip teacher because someone who isn't cut up for the job doesn't impress anyone. A lot of students like to catch a teacher's mistakes to feel smug, but students who have something to learn from you will listen. Yeah, the golden star that would impress anyone is being the best at what you do.

Confidence and posture is noteworthy. A teacher with confidence and assurance will show students that they're in control. You've got to keep a tight belt if you want people to look up to you... but of course there is a difference between confident and menacing, so just dont go overboard. The trick is to balance nice and strict traits out...

I guess physical appearance helps, of course. As what the other people said, beautiful women with hourglass figures would certainly impress (more like flabbergast) and dashing male teachers will surely gain female support. Well, looking our best is good enough, yes? I noticed that with teachers, simplicity is the key. Looking suave but not gaudy helps. Also, only the younger teachers can get away with really trendy wears...

On specifics: most male teachers look good in white polo shirts and black slacks; or with nice fine-lined sweaters, etc. but of course this is just my opinion. (I personally despise most checkered shirts, by the way) Women teachers can can get away with almost any style as long as they don't try so hard to look young. Usually sophistication hits the students' eye... Can't give much specifics unless we know your body type, skin tone, style and personality. It really depends on those, if you want to look your best so... Well, just as long as you keep your fashion style sharp, and that you understand your body type, you will look presentable.

I guess hygeine also impresses. I once had a teacher who had really dirty fingernails and lots of stuff on his face, and he also didn't comb much... You really lose points there...

Good luck

Well you should'nt be teaching with a nick name like killer. Now thats a better name. From your avatar, I thought you were a man but now I am sure because of your new name.
I think you should dress well, when you go to the job. Prepare the subject matter and do not forget to have the kids participate. At the end of the lecture, if they participate, then they will not get bored.
Bud13, he is going to the class to teach not for anything else.

well first off isn't it " what does an impressive teacher look like" or " how does an impressive teacher look" lol firs off before looks comes the first impression, make sure all your grammar is perfect when writing on the bored. lol but as far as looks, i don't know exactly, it all depends who your trying to impress, and what grade your teaching.

In addition to peacelove's answer, make sure you are dressed appropriately. Although they are popular, cover your tatoos. Although I hate saying it, I love clothes and fashion, you have to dress conservatively. Save the glam/goth for after school hours.

A nice skirt/pant suit works. (I'm guessing for an interview??) I usually find great stuff on eBay. And don't worry about buying a suit, you'll end up using it more than once: parent conferences, meet-the-teacher night, etc. In my experience, kids tend to react better to a well-dressed(sweater/slacks), well-groomed (hygiene) teacher. It models to students how to care for and respect themselves, that you take your teaching seriously, and that you look forward to seeing them each day.

dress to impress. lol. Ur a guy...then wear a nice shirt with a collar..preferrably silk. Dont wear a suit and tie. That sort of makes students think ur strict. Unless u want to be strict..then go right ahead..=)
