It depends how rich you were. Egyptian girls did not have an occupation, but they could own land. Egyptian boys mainly grew up to be what their fathers were. The most common job was a farmer. If you were in the middle class you could become an artisan. If you were wealthy, you could become a scribe, which was a pretty good job. Of course, if you were very rich, you did not have to do anything.

By the way, Egypt did not have slaves.
