Sophie has an idea but a nicotine tea can harm the roots as well as what's in the soil if you are not careful. It sounds like shore flies or fungus gnats which result from overwatering. The larvae live in the soil. I would suggest just letting the soil dry completely out before watering. Don't worry, the plants can do without water better than the larvae can. Do this 3 or 4 times and you shoud have killed all the larvae. Then change your watering habits. Water only when the top inch of soil is dry and never leave water in the saucer.

For the adults you can use yellow sticky traps which you get at good L&G Centers. Most of them will be attracted to the yellow trap and glue themselves to it. If you want to get more aggressive get Shultz Houseplant Insect Killer and spray the tops, bottoms of leaves and top of soil where they land. It's made from crysanthemum flowers and will not hurt a pet.

You can soak tobacco in some water overnight, add regular mouthwash (the brown stuff) and use that to kill the bugs. Soap and water works only when you want to kill mold on the leaves. For more info on this and other solutions using household products, go to www.gerrybaker.com

take the plant out.

Shake off all the roots.

Boil some water.

Dose the soil with the boiling water to kill all seeds and bugs.

After it cools, replant your plant.

Never mind the organic stuff. They don't work.

Boiling water works with out chemicals.

Why would you get rid of yet another existence in basic terms because he or she is there? They spider wasn't harming you. If more effective human beings in basic terms took the time to attempt to understand insects, they does not be afraid or afflicted by technique of them. many human beings don't realize, yet getting "excitement" out of killing or eliminating a existence from even the smallest of creatures is a demonstration of violence, even if insects can experience discomfort or not. I continually communicate over with insects after I see them or am saving them from those who were in basic terms taught that they were "undesirable." they don't seem to be and make a contribution to the cycle or existence a twin of the different being. I recommend attempting to placed your self of their position and sweetness "what if i became born a spider. would i would like that particular same clinical care achieved to me?" Take care!
