DISCLAIMER:
I already have an appointment with my gynecologist, so I am GOING to the doctor. I know she will be able to find out what is wrong with me, but since the appointment is next month, I figured if I could see if other people have had this problem and what it is to them.

Okay, I am 18 and I got my period when I was 12, so it isn't because I just got it. I know it takes a couple of years to become regular.
I also know that I am not pregnant.. At first that was my concern but trust me, every time I miss a period and if I were pregnant, I would have a ton of kids by now!
I am not overweight, or underweight.
I was looking up possible causes and it is not due to an excess of androgen, because I have NONE of the other symptoms of that, and there are a lot.

Has anyone else had this? I mean it is probably nothing but I just wanted to see if anyone else had this too, and what was going on with them. Thank you!

Oh and also, I am not on birth control. I know a lot of times gynecologists put women on birth control to regulate their periods. Is this common/did they do this for you?

Thanks again!

I though stress too, but it's been like this for years. I haven't really been stressed out for years. I have been really stressed here or there, but definitely not much. I am pretty stress free. And I also eat healthy too.
Thanks for the reply =)

It's good your going to your doc for a check-up. You probably need some blood work done, to find out what's going on with you.
Some teens may develop irregular periods - or stop having periods altogether - as a result of a hormone imbalance. Disorders of the thyroid gland can cause menstrual irregularities if the levels of thyroid hormone in the blood become too low or too high.

yes... even though im only 18 and in no way trying to concieve any time soon, i have skipped periods all the time bc of stress.. i play basketball, soccer, and crew and during the seasons, especially basketball, i am so stressted out that sometimes i wont get my period for 2 months. my mom is a doctor and she explained to me that it's becasue your body isnt used to up and down moods and stress like that so it copes the best way it knows how. i also know about what she told me about the pill, there are so many other natural ways that you can get your period back and conceive. I started taking B-12 complex, its a vitamin, and that helped with that problem. going on the pill, which you dont want anyway, will mess it up... plus the fact that the pill thins out the lining of your uterus and that makes it harder for a fertilzed egg to hold and survive.... i hope this helps... good luck!

If this happens to you a lot, think and talk to your doctor about going on birth control. It saves you all this stress of wondering what could be wrong with you. This used to happen to me all the time. I would get stressed out about it if I was a day late. The stess then made it worse. I know it's hard, but try not to think about it.

i am 20 and got married an year ago. until then my periods were almost regular although it was never too regular but after marriage when i came to UAE wih my husband... i started havng period problems ...i used to run two or three months late and the lucky guess was that i was pregnant. as you said if i had kids on all my missed periods i would have a bunch too..... i waited and i found the reasons were the change in climate, my lifestyle and little bit of worry.A change in life style can cause the periods to run late. i have my sister in law who is eighteen and has the same problem... she is not married and is still in her home land. when discussed with a doctor, she was told to wait and see... they told her that if she did not get alright by 19, they wld do smething abt it.... and in my case , after a period the periods were allright and now i ampregnant. i was really worried once abt my periods but i guess its normal at this age.I dont know but most people i know get irregularities at this age.... this is as mush that i know abt it.... i hope i was of some help.... but as you said doctors are whom you shld really rely on....but believe me a lot of girls have had missed periods and it will get alright...

yes, birthcontrol pills can regulate your periods but there could be other female problems causing this but that is not always true so good luck and be patient
