Dangerous question - and 'issue' that you ask here; new, bogus account maker - - -
One should NOT attempt to 'induce' labor, at home, or anywhere else. . .
Shame on you for positing a very DANGEROUS, bogus question!
to which there is NO, responsible, SAFE answer. . .
PS to Charlotte J (just above my answer) - - -
Castor Oil? Old wives' tale, and yes it is vile - and causes diarrhea - very uncomfortable for one who is already very heavy in the abdomen . . .
And please notice --- I have been awarded 2 'thumbs down', very quickly AFTER posting this answer - - - bogus account maker (with at least 8 troll account answer entries here) is hard at work, attempting to 'use' the new ratings system, vindictively . . .so . . . keep at it, YA team - you still don't have effective con'troll' of your ''troll'' site!

Don't, just don't. 40 weeks isn't some magic expiry date, the baby won't go bad. The baby will come when they are ready.
Herbal medications, caster oil, etc are just as dangerous as medical inductions.
You can try the fun things like having sex, nipple stimulation, swinging, hot foods and elevators. But only within reason and don't stress yourself out. The average first pregnancy that isn't screwed with by docs is 41w3d

Walking helps out a lot. When you walk, you should walk up hills. I walked for 30 min and the next day I went into labor. Eat hot foods. You can have sex and make sure he cums inside you. He's *** has this thing in it that make your body start to have contractions.

Why would you want to do that? Let that baby bake until it's done! Sex, walking, and nipple stimulation have been known to help bring on labor, but not unless your baby is ready to come out.

Have sex, keep a pillow under your bottom for a half an hour because sperm is a natural prostaglandin. then have a warm shower, express colostrum from one nipple for two minutes then do the other. ten minutes later repeat the expressing. do this for a half an hour. expressing releases natural oxytocin that causes contractions.
Hope this helps

You just have a lot of sex. :D Think I'm kiddin'? I'm not. My kid was homebirthed about seven hours after we did this. No problems. You need to read up on this. Get Ina May Gaskin's Complete Guide to Childbirth.

Have your husband/boyfriend suck on your nipples. This stimulates the muscles in your uterus and really gets things going. I promise; it worked for me!
