Everyone is always talking about equality then, how come there is BET the black entertainment channel but not WET channel that would be racist. And why is there a NAACP but no WAACP cause it would be racist? Furthermore, how come there is a black chamber of commerce but if we had a white one, once again racisim...

I'm ALL for equality but shouldn't it be equal for everyone?

And whats all this talk about reverse racisim, that's not even a WORD! So if someone white is being persecuted and the News calls it Reverse racisim are they implying that only minorities can be persecuted??? If a white person is being persecuted shouldn't it just be called racisim???

What do YOU think?

First of all to those of you who are talking about enslaving an entire race this is not true. Across the ocean in Africa they are not slaves, so it is not an entire race, secondly..... AFRICANS SOLD THEIR OWN PEOPLE TO AMERICANS FOR GOODS AND GOLD. That IN NO WAY makes it RIGHT AT ALL, it is VERY VERY WRONG, but your own people sold you out pay attention in BLACK HISTORY!

Also Affirmitive Action has noting to do with school. Obviously you were speaking of yourself when you were talking about not having enough skills learned in school.

My 6-year-old daughter has Black friends and Latino friends. Right now, she doesn't see them as Black or Latino. They're just kids. In a few years, when she starts to understand what BET, NAACP, and Ebony Magazine are about, she'll probably start to see that they are viewed differently. I think that all of these minority-based organizations are merely continuing the separation of races. They had good intentions when they started, but it's time to abolish all of them. No organizations (or anything, for that matter) should be based on race. If today's children don't see that there are separate organizations for different races, they won't view races as separate people.

Here's another thought...with all of the mixed families today, what's going to happen several generations from now when most of the population is 1/2 White, 1/4 Black, and 1/4 Latino?

i don't know about the "reverse racism" thing I have never heard that. however, about the black organizations and channels, even though there is SUPPOSED to be equality, there really isn't. the black people on "white" tv are usually thugs, druggies or some other stereotype. you know this is true. so on BET, they will show things where the blacks are more than criminals. for the black chamber of commerce, there was so much segregation for so long that there really is a sort of separate community that the blacks may belong to. this isn't racist, it's just that they want to be certain they are represented or doing things to help each other out. i can see the need for these organizations because while equality is closer than it was a few decades ago, it's not here yet and the average white male still has the advantage in life over the average black male and definitely the female. it's not racism. it's survival.

Yes I agree, and no I am not a racist either. Equality has to be for everyone and racism is racism regardless of whether it is directed at black, asian, or WHITE people. Reverse racism is an oxy moron. We have a mall/appartment complex out here called ASIAN PLACE. If anyone tried to open the same thing as CAUCASION PLACE they would be sued into the ground.

Just wanted to add that the slavery issue doesnt really hold water when some of us are from a country that took in runaway slaves and fed & housed them (Canada) & yet we still have the same problems here as you do in America as outlined in the question here.

I think that every other channel is WET. i mean come on. Black people are a minority, would it kill you to let them have 1 channel out of hundreds. Reverse racism is supposed to make blacks and whites equal , but let's be honest here, how do you make up for the unjust treatment of an entire race. You can't. but reverse racism does try to fix the problem so it does deserve some credit, my problem with is so far is that it doesn't work.

We live in a vary confused, angry, and somewhat mad world today, because racism has been around since the dawn of time, it has divided mankind into so many minorities today that just about every one has a form of racism. Racism is malignant all over the world, and man will never conform to equality because each minority feels Superior to one another, man will always criticize one another because of his fear and lack of understanding of other cultures and his greed for power and control. To be human today is not exactly a good thing, and when the end does come God help us all.

racism and prejudice r racism and prejudice no matter who is doing. BET made it's own channel because all the programming was white with only token blacks in some of the programs. nowadays almost every ethnic culture is somewhere on tv. heck we have 3 or 4 all spanish stations here in so. fl.

I think you need to be sure you're not a racist--i'm not implying that you are, but you sound bitter and taking sides. I believe blacks have for long needed a platform to feel proud and equal and yes, you're right about the idea of why we are not represented as white. To me, it's like the Saint Patrick's Day Parade in New York City. Gays want to march as gays, but we straight people do not need to march as straight. See what I mean? Please believe me when I say that I am not implying you're a racist--I am only suggesting that you look inward and see. I worked for a black organization as the only white guy and I came to see who i am by doing what i suggest for you.
Peace

i half agree but ur being a little harsh, did black people go and take white people do be slaves? mabye you didnt know this but the problem about segragation just ended like 45 years ago or mabye more i dont exactly know tho. And its all part of having equal peers to. so a black perosn can go to a black judje and get less of a stearo type. But i do agree black people can be racist against white people but its not like its an enrmous problem, so you dont have to act like it is, i would say racism against black people is more of a problem!
