I go through spurts. There was a time when all I read was Si-fi - I mean all the classics (Vonnegut, Asimov, Clark, Herbert, Heinlein, etc.) Then I actually started reading all the classics they want you to read in school (Tale of Two cities, Scarlet Letter, Silas Marner, Great Expectations, Great Gatsby,etc... I think I have pretty much read them all, plus any other books by those authors). Now I read books my friends recommend. Recent past: The Time Traveler's Wife, The Center of Everything,The Life of Pi. I love historical novels such as There Be Dragons. I love anything in which there are castles and wars and history.I also like to take a moment to read a Stephanie Plum "detective" story or a hot romance novel. When I have time, I read 2 books a week. When heavily into work - Zero. Waaah!

I read thirty to forty-five books a month in these genres, sci-fi/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, adventure, westerns, archaeology, paleontology, science, herbalism, etc. I have read in the last 50 years over 565,000 books and I don't seem to be slowing down except for the fact that I am on disablity and my funds keep me from the new stuff, so I have to go to used book stores. But that doesn't keep me from finding new stuff, because there is so much out there and not enough time to read them all.

I read every day. Newspaper, magazines etc. And I also always have a book on hand. I love crime novels, my favorite author being Elizabeth George. Though she is American, her novels take place in England (mainly) and she is so good that the brits call her "Queen Elizabeth"
