i only use it once because i read that there is a lot of bacteria inside that is hard to get out because of the plastic.

Usually just for a few days. I don't trust them after that unles I clean them out with very hot water and who does that?
A new bottle is so cheap.

Once it's empty, I throw it out. I don't like refilling them because it just seems kind of gross.
