Open the radiator cap when cold then satrt the car and wait to warm up. See if any movement is noticable after thermostat opens. If not, bad water pump. Otherwise you may have a leaking headgasket which should also be noticable in the radiator showing a bunch of small bubbles which indicates compression coming into radiator. You can also get a new thermostat that is defective since 99% of them are coming from Mexico- might want to try another from a different parts store and vendor.

if it was a head gasket you would have a rough running engine and a hell of alot of white smoke, so i would rule that one out since you did not mention any of that, common problems to check are... first check coolant level and conditon, over time coolant breaks down and turn acidic and wont cool, have you had it flushed recently? also then check the radiator and condeser for any trash or leafs or anything that could be blocking the airflow. and last when you changed the thermostat did you bleed the air? you have to jack up front of car or park on hill and open radiator cap and let run unril hot and t-stat open releasing the trapped air, ot take it in and have coolant flushed that will also fix the air problem. good luck

Well, now you have to dig deeper, unless you haven't changed the radiator cap. Water pump is next. You need to also see the condition of the radiator. It may need flushing. Even timing can make a vehicle overheat.

Have your radiator flushed sometimes they get very clogged up inside, specially if you run only water without antifreeze.

you could have a air pocket in the system somewear, take off the rad cap and let it run for a while this might let it burp it self out.
