I was told by my daughter's pediatrician to use karo syrup in a bottle of water for her. How long does it take to work? Everything's still the same?
She's 1 1/2 months old.

She is having a very hard time pooping, and it is really thick. I have switched to bottled water, but that didn't help any. The doctor said the Karo Syrup would make it easier on her, and make the poop thinner. She's been on it for 3 days now.

I always used Karo syrup in my baby's bottles for that too. It's an old remedy but it usually works. If it doesn't work by tomorrow call her doctor and ask if you can give her a little apple juice. You may also want to change her formula if this continues.

why exactly did the pediatrician tell you to use karo syrups for. karo syrup is basically melted down sugar. i don't know why you would give your 1 1/2 month old babhy sugar.

WHAT? A doctor said this? You might want a second opinion.

My doctor said to give my son some watered down prune juice to soften stool. My son's BM was so hard it created a fissure! 2oz of prune juice for my 2 month old did the trick!

Prunes are nature's laxitave.

If it were going to have any effect..
It would have done so in just a couple of days...
I cannot imagine what giving your baby sugar water
over an extended period of time was supposed to do
for her bowel movements...
Sounds like something is wrong here...
Some misunderstanding somewhere...

That's INSANE. Get a second opinion from somebody younger than Jesus.
