I've got dial up because I'm too cheap to pay for DSL. Plus, I know the day I decide to buy DSL will be the day my computer blows up!

DSL. I'll never go back to dial up. I had AOL dial up for about a year and hated it. It was slow and a pain to have to keep reconnecting all the time. I also hated that it tied up the phone line.

I am still using my old 56k SupraExpress external USB modem. The connection speed varies depending on the Internet traffic at different times of the day.
I have had one best answer to my question about increasing the speed of the modem by getting a new driver from the manufacturer.
With the data compression technology it should be possible to increase the speed without any need for DSL because I do not download music or videos.

sbc dsl started out at $14.99 a month for 6 months. Now it's up to $20.00 a month because the 14 dollar dsl was still too slow so they said, for five more dollars a month we can speed up your high speed dsl. it's all bull crap. But don't feel bad I've used dial up for many, many, many, years. But after dsl i can't go back.
