Just so you will know. It's the Hotel Del Coronado. This is located on the island of Coronado by way of the Coronado Bridge.
Also if you go to the last exit on Interstate 5 you will be in San Ysidro. You can go to La Jolla and check out the seals down at the beach, then have a great lunch at Georges at the cove over looking the ocean. If your here on a Tue check out the museums in Balboa park, a few of them are free.

Mariott Hotel over at Harbor gives you an excellent view of the harbor area. It is a little bit expensive but it is worth it.
Hotel Colorado is definitely expensive, I suggest that you just walk in & see the place. Colorado is a beautiful place. The Colorado bridge gives you a spectacular view of the surroundings. Hotel Colorado is not only one of the best in the US but also in the world. Even if you dont check in here. I still suggest that you see the place.
Sea World , San Diego Zoo & Legoland are all in San Diego!
Be sure that you are on time, see their websites since there are shows here in which you have to be on time! There are bottomless drinks at the entrance which you can refill throughout the day. It serves double purpose, it can be your souvenir too.
I suggest that you ride the trolley so that you can picture the whole of San Diego. I stayed here for almost 2 months early this year. I bought 2 maps of the place before going there. However, it is not that complete. By riding all the trolley, you will be able to put in together its place.
Be sure that you park well before you ride the trolley or better leave it in your hotel premises. You can stop to the malls & hop in again. I think they have the whole day trolley ticket. Its worth it and you wont be worrying of wasting your gas & getting lost around San Diego. There are bus stations in most trolley stations.
See the last American exit by driving there by car instead! It is in San Isidro, there is an outlet store there which is better than the malls around.
San Diego has a nice weather!

If you rent a car head to a Denny's and just inside their door is usually a hotel discount magazine. They have great deals. I've used it many times for company from out of town. They have hotels in every area of town. Lajolla has a nice little motel that is usually in there and a couple in hotel circle. Hotel Circle would be central to most anything. Check out old town San Diego, Lajolla, Gaslamp Quarter and try to get to Coronado to. If you go to Lajolla take a ride to the top of Mount Soledad, it will give you a beautiful pano view of the whole area. Enjoy, San Diego is wonderful.

when i was there i stayed at the ramada dowtown. it was right up from the zoo, navy park and the mall...also easy access to the freeway...it was like $180 for a night though....i was there for only one night but i was very impressed and helped me not be lost as the places i went to see were right up the street. but may i also suggest....while you are there go see the USS Midway...it is a retired navy ship that was in commision longer than any other ship in US history. it is also the biggest ship in US history. it is now docked and a museum. it is the navy park downtown. it is amazing and educational (my dad was on it in vietnam so maybe i'm partial!) and if you go to the zoo be prepared to be there all day even over a couple of days...money wise, everything is pretty spendy there so be prepared that affordable there may be roach infest yucko! (i'm a cheap penny pinching type person and learned my lesson while visiting LA that i had to spend money for a nice room otherwise it was trashy....i didn't take any chances in the day trip to san diego....) a super nice hotel room where i live is like $60 a night and spending the same there was far from ok!

We stayed at Hotel Solamar. Beautiful. It can be pricey, but they give out some good special rates if you look for them.
It was located right next to the Gaslamp District where there are a ton of restaurants and bars. Very hip nightlife.
We felt like we were right in the heart of the city!

This time of year you might be able to get some real bargains.

These are the best San Diego Beach Hotels. San Diego has many fabulous hotels, but most of them are not located on the beach. If you are looking for a hotel on the beach, these are the best you will find. Check around for the best prices because there are some great deals to be found.
