It doesn't sem to bother him, but i am worried. He had baby acne since he was 4 weeks old. I was told to use hydrocortisone if i wanted to , but i didn't and now it is almost gone by itself. We give him a bath every other day and i am using humidifiers throughout the house. I don't want to use hydrocortisone etc. - he is too young for that. Any suggestions?

He's 2 months old don't stress yourself over dry cheeks and run off to a dermatologist. Save yourself some worry and money. A little vasoline is a good idea (I wouldn't use baby oil b/c that would be to much and could cause more irritation) or even a little diaper rash cream. I use to tell all my new mom's (previous neonate nurse) that the baby is trying so hard to adjust his body to our environement. During pregnancy the baby didn't have to do a thing and was "regulated" and "protected" by mom. It can take months for a babies skin to adjust...just give them time and keep doing what your doing!

Use 100% lanolin. It's found in the breastfeeding section near the bottles. Use it to calm your own dry skin, and also helps the reduction in fine lines around the eyes. Totally mild and safe!

Don't use lotion, as the perfumes and additives can further irritate the skin. Try to protect baby's face from the wind. Unscented patroleum jelly is good too. Lanolin also works on the diaper area! and a teeny amount also controls flyaway frizzies for your hair!

Lansinoh is the name brand to look for and it's sold in a purple box, tube inside.

Pick up a tube of Boudreaux's Butt Paste diaper rash ointment and spread a thin amount of it on his cheeks. People swear by the stuff, and not just for babies and diaper rash. I'd heard all about it and picked up a tube before we came home from the hospital and boy am I glad I did. In the 4 days we've had baby home I've found a ton of uses for it, including dry flaky cheeks, and it's amazing stuff! I was shocked at how fast it works and at how well. I've also used it on myself and can tell you it's very soothing.

This sounds funny but, put a light coat of a diaper rash cream on his face. Rub it in very good. My daughter was in the hospital for a week with several different viruses. From all the medicines her face got very dry and flakey. Her cheeks were red and looked like they hurt. One of the nurses took some diaper rash cream/protectant on her cheeks and they cleared up wonderfully. I had been using vaseline, but it wasnt working as well. The diaper cream has extra stuff in it that helps with healing. Good luck and congrats on the new family member

My pediatrician told me to use Grins & Giggles Moisturizing Stick made by Gerber. It really helps, my baby had very dry skin on her cheeks too and this cleared it up very quickly! It is Fragrance Free and Hypo-Allergenic.

Try using Baby Aveeno - they have both a wash and a lotion that are great for dry skin. The bottle are tan with a dark blue cap. Be sure to apply the lotion IMMEDIATELY after the bath, before the moisture from the bath dries.

If this continues, or if it seems to be bothering him, be sure to see your pediatrician or a dermatologist.

my youngest sons doctor told me to bathe him every night. it won't hurt him. it allows for moisture to seep in then imediately after the bath use baby oil lotion combo. you can either mix it yourself or by the johnson's 'soft lotion creamy moisturizing oil. you might have to apply the lotion mixture a few times a day. that is the only thing that has ever worked on my son, and i wash his hair with head and shoulders 2 in 1 classic clean. everything else the doctors prescribed either didn't work or he was allergic. one thing that i can remember that was prescribed was aquafor and my son broke out very badly on his belly from that. the hydrocortisone cream made my sons skin condition worse. he has a form of eczema, i can't remember what it's called.
get an appointment for your child, but try the lotion mixture thing in the meantime. if you use the johnsons stuff spot test first because it does have fragrances in it.
