05 sti is the best year in my opinion. better engine internals compared to 04, and better engine mounts compared to 06. an evo 9 mr will of course outdo an 05 sti, and you can get the evo into the 11-12 sec range with a tbe and a reflash. evo's respond very well to modifications. if i could afford one, i would probably switch to an evo 9 mr, but that will have to wait. so, to answer your question, get an sti. better resale value, warranty, you can still drift it if that's what you're looking for, and the exhaust note is sexay!

Buy a Subaru Impreza Wrx STi, because it is good for everything and it is fast when you give the car higher gear.

Subaru Impreza STi. Very fast car (just to prove, you could race a Mustang, Porsche carrera non-turbo, Honda Civic, and an Evo what a joke) reliable and popular.

Jennifer is right on one thing. The EVO is better......well, for me it is. But guaran-damn-tee that a stock STI beats the crap outta a Honda or Acura easily......unless that Honda or Acura is on the "dark side" (meaning force fed). And the STI is also quicker than the Silva 15 unless you plan to do a swap of the RB26DETT into it......or if you want to go drifting in which case, I would go for the S15.
