Im just curious with the answer. I understand that some people might, and others not, but are there any scientific research on the issue? Do peoples actions when there intoxicated become there subconscious wants when there not?

when people are intoxicated they become less inhibited, some times the truth comes out, but guarenteed it's exagerrated to some degree. and you cannot always believe what is being said as 'truth'

Yes. It has been said that what one does and says while under the influence, was already on the mind of the inebriated person.

For example: Court cases in Canada: In the past, the courts were lenient on crimes involving alcohol. However, new court rulings are that the crime that was committed was already on the mind of the person committing the said crime before they started drinking.

Also, those who cheat on their partners while under the influence can't get away with it too much anymore because what was done had already been on the mind of the cheater before they started drinking.

So the answer is yes. The act was intentional, the alcohol just lowers the inhibitions, increases their "over-confidence" for them to say or do what has already been on their minds.

I don't know where you can get these studies, but you might want to check your local law library or courthouse. Net Law might be a good place to look as well. Good luck.

I doubt very much that an ethics committee would approve a study like that, and apart from that, you would have a bit of a rough time proving someone was lying/telling the truth either way. But intuitively speaking, people do tend to reveal things a bit more freely that they normally would keep secret, but at the same time lying is also not unreasonable to expect. How many guys have you met at a bar that lied about their occupation to get in your pants?

I have never been much of a drinker and one of the prime reasons why is that all I need is a drink or two before I start spilling everything anyone wants - and does NOT want - to know. Unless I develop a taste for being beaten to a bloody pulp for the things I say to total strangers, it's best that I stick with soda...

I dont know about scientific research, but because people become less inhibited when intoxicated, they become fearless and this probably is the reason they speak their minds and sometimes become offensive.

definitely not more truthful. if anything, more imaginative. a molehill can become a mountain. a normally passive person can become king kong. i'm sure there is research info available on the subject but i speak only from 55 years of watching...and once in a while doing.

I can tell you only what I have experienced with my own eyes. It loosens peoples tongues and emotions and can cause a lot of damage. The secret is to always be in control of the alcohol, not the other way around.

It is a central nervous system depressent, and therefore, you will likely lose control of your actions. I don't believe that it makes you more truthful, only because it's effect is that it destroys your sense of judgement. Alot of the times, what you say don't make sense. So, no, alcohol doesn't MAKE you tell the truth, it's your misjudgement when drunk that does that. If alcohol makes you tell the truth, then they would use it on criminals.

Good question, I´ve always thought also that whomever was intoxicated would give you more hints to his/her true nature. I don´t know if that is proven but it has worked in my humble experience.

Under the influence of drugs/alcohol lowers the inhibitions. People do things that they normally would not do, becuase they have less self control. They do not change their character...they do things they desire to do that normally their conscience would tell them not to do. This is why the devil uses drugs and alcohol as a tool...to get people to sin.
