I am interested in making an offer on a house that is currently in forclosure and already has been deeded back to the bank. When I looked up the property taxes online to see how much they would cost me every year I noticed that the taxes for 2006 had never been paid and are delinquent. If I purchased this home would I have to pay these taxes?

The taxes will be paid at closing, and they should be paid by the bank unless your offer has been adjusted to reflect your paying the back taxes.

Tax liens are on the property itself, and not the owner. Make sure this issue of who is responsible for paying the back taxes is covered in your contract.

That is negotiable with the seller as a condition of purchase. Liens on the property are the same. You would inherit such ebt unless negotiated as a condition of the sale. In other words, let the buyer beware and get insurance for such risk.

I think you would have to pay for the taxes. Do you have a buyer's agent, please ask. Also has anyone advised you of the right of redemption the previous owner has? Be careful, don't enter into this transaction without knowing all the answers here. Not really a great answer but that's the limitation of Yahoo! Answers.

I would say no, but as with all things in a real estate transaction, it is negotiable. By default the bank would have to pay because they cannot transfer clear title to you on the sale. Thats why you buy title insurance...Your Real estate attorney really should have taken care of it at closing.
