It depends. If it's your music, that is, music you composed, it's not a violation. If it's music in which you do not have copyrights, yes, it's a violation of the owner's copyright, and thus a violation of Federal Law.

Yes. The way the law is currently written and interpreted, you can be charged with a crime for doing this even if you don't profit from it.

it depends, if u give ur friends a cd to load up in his/her comp, but if u download an give them away.

amerika has sum of the dumbest laws in the world, there is many things wrong with us, so we take it out on the minimal crime commiters.
