what is the source of stem cells and what are the various uses of stem cells/ stem cell research?

8 cell embryos, umbilical cord blood and bonemarow are the sources of stem cells.
Their usage: there is no limit to their usage. I just went to a lecture about stem cells and the most exciting thing I heard scientist have been able to do with stem cells, was to a living, functioning bladder for children that has lived and worked perfectly for up to 8 years! Scientist are hopefull that one day they can use stem cells to repare damages to brain cells, spinal cord, heart muscle,..... and so on!
